Huston Is The New Black

One of my favorite wineries in Idaho is Huston Vineyards in the Sunnyslope Winegrowing District of the Snake River Valley AVA (American Viticultural Area). As you head out to the Sunnyslope for a day of wine, food and fun, do yourself a favor and make Huston either your first stop or your last...

There’s an old adage in commerce, which holds especially true with the wine industry: “People Buy People.” Yes Huston’s wines are delicious and hold their own against the best Idaho has to offer. Still, the “secret sauce” or “secret weapon” of Huston lies not in the vineyards, nor in the barrel room. The best thing about Huston is its people, and that begins with winegrowers and winemakers Gregg and Mary Alger.

Native Idahoans, Gregg and Mary are very active in the burgeoning Idaho wine community. Both are contributing members to the Idaho Wine Commission, a hybrid government-vintner organization that helps steer and foster developments with wine agriculture and wine tourism. The Algers’ warm and friendly demeanor comes through in every glass. They truly are creating their wines with the end users and consumers in mind.

Put Huston Vineyards on your short-list of must-visit Idaho wineries. If Gregg and Mary are not about, fear not. You are in very capable hands (and paws) with friendly and gracious long-time tasting room staffers, Baylee Houser & Hailey Moore (along with Hershey, the vineyard dog and winery mascot)...

Cheers to Huston and those like ‘em! 🤠🍷
